Actually in the gospels Christ says clearly that no-one (not even him) will be able to know the date of the end times by any means; so, that Camping claims to be able to use the same scriptures that issue this immobilizing statement to do exactly what it says he can't do makes this entire situation wholly laughable. From the gospel according to Mark, chapter 13:
Verse 2-5: ...2“Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” 3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, 4“Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” 5Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you."
...
Verse 32-33: 32“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come."
I haven't omitted anything that would alter the meaning of these passages. If you're skeptical or curious, you can take a look here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+13&version=NIV
Let's all have a nice, hearty, delicious breakfast on the morning of May 22nd.
