A "By the Numbers" Psyche-Up

“The worthiness of a feeling is based on it’s ability to give you the results you’re looking for.  All else being equal, if your feeling does not provide for you what you’re desiring, accept a pattern of denial.  This is what we must do to stay ahead in the world, to not be dragged down by bizarre contradictory emotions that beg us to attempt the impossible.”

Think about that.  Can it truly be better to try to think only logical thoughts or should we more likely think lofty and flowery thoughts?  If we have the means to put our lofty thoughts into action, then certainly we should think these lofty thoughts.  But if they are only going to dissipate and die then we’d be better off finding comfort only in our daily routine.  So let’s make effort; when we have a lofty thought, let’s try as hard as we can to capture it in whatever way we can – in song, writing, just talking about it.  Let’s cover everything in writing, surrounding ourselves with it, and eventually we’ll be enveloped completely and we will, to put it Socratically, “give birth in beauty.”

This means we must each purchase a notebook which we will carry around at all times, and inside it, we must write down all forms of loftiness, whether that comes in the form of abstract thought, dreams we had the previous night, or documented prayers.  I’ll have some of each, and my notebook will have a big III on the front of it.
